Editor’s Pick: Micallef Herencia Maduro

Torpedo, 52 x 5 1/2”

The Micallef Herencia Maduro was the first cigar I sampled in the company’s portfolio a while back. I’ve worked my way through most all of them now. The top line Reserva and the Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No.1 are go-to favorites now.

I offered the Herencia Maduro to a buddy during our monthly poker game a week or so ago. He paired it up with smoky single malt scotch and raved about the combo throughout the first part of our marathon poker session. I decided to fire one up the next day and I’m happy to report I’m in simpatico with him.

The Micallef Herencia Maduro is an intriguing cigar. It had some kick at the onset but still hit me as a medium slight-plus cigar as we got down the line. I like complex cigars with a bit of mystery, too. The filler is a house reserve secret blend by the renowned Gómez Sánchez family.

Overall, it’s a tasty smoke experience which lasted about an hour for me. I caught consistently sweet smoky spice and easy-on-the-palate pepper notes with the Herencia Maduro. The draw is effortless which is in keeping the Micallef brand in general. I’m happy to say the Herencia Maduro is now in the Micallef rotation. Feel free to let us know if it makes it into yours.
