A seasonal release, Hudson Maple Cask Rye is the result of an innovative partnership, through which Hudson Whiskey provides its Baby Bourbon casks to a maple syrup tapper to age his syrup. The maple-cured casks are then sent back to Hudson Whiskey and filled with Rye Whiskey, where it ages for an additional four months allowing the flavors to blend. This cask finish technique creates a well-balanced taste profile of maple sweetness with all of the spiciness of rye whiskey and no additional ingredients.
Tasting Notes: High notes of rye spice mellowed by a maple sweet roundness; spiced toffee with hints of cinnamon-raisin, followed by a medium-long finish with a slightly sweet touch of maple sugar lingering on the palate. Never to be confused with other sweet, “maple-flavored” whiskies, this is Hudson’s rustic rye given a natural, fine polish by resting in maple syrup-cured barrels.
