Consider Arta Tequila Five-year aged Extra Añejo tequila to help celebrate National Tequila Day, July 24. Four batches of 1,000 bottles of the Colorado-based tequila were produced and are available in stores throughout the state.

The tequila is triple barreled for three years in American white oak barrels, then split between French Cognac and Spanish Sherry barrels for two additional years, making it unique among the tequila aging process.

The tequila features hints of aromas of toasted seeds, roasted cocoa, coffee and almonds with wild acorns, according to the company and features intense vanilla and oak, jasmine and cinnamon.

The tequila, which retails for $99-$115, won a silver medal in tasting and a bronze medal in packaging at the 2015 San Francisco Spirits Competition in March.

According to the company, Arta tequilas only use pesticide-free agave grown on a single family run estate, is slow baked to ensure the highest sugar content and uses yeast from fruit extracts versus bread yeasts, and water from a private aquifer to ensure the tequila’s unique flavor.
