WORLD SPIRITS COMPETITION
Cigar & Spirits Magazine is excited to host its annual World Spirits Competition on November 1st, 2022.

Over the past 12 years Cigar & Spirits has become a trusted source in exposing its audience to premier spirits from around the world. Using trusted connoisseurs with over a collective 150 years of tasting, we are able to conduct an authenticated rating process awarding the top spirits in each category. The results are tabulated by Michael Gottlieb, retired Ernst & Young Partner and Leader of Restaurant Practice, and submitted to the magazine’s editorial department for publication. These accolades have become an influential voice in the industry, used for marketing purposes by elite brands such as Ketel One Vodka, Nolet’s Gin, 50 Cent’s Branson Cognac and many others.
ABOUT THE TASTING
The Annual World Spirits Competition will take place over three days in Laguna Beach, California. Our panel of judges consists of sommeliers, restauranteurs, advertising professionals, event planners, professional golfers, professional gamblers and respected entrepreneurs.
This year’s competition puts the top spirits to the test. Each submitted spirit will be rebottled and distributed blindly to the judging panel using a 100-point rating system based on the appropriate tasting measures. Once the results are collected, each spirit will be categorized by the following categories–Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Cigar & Spirits will publish the results in the January/February 2023 issue.
Our categories for this year’s competition include:
Brandy, Vodka, Gin, Mezcal, Liqueurs, Bourbon, Rum, Tequila, Blended Whiskey and Single Malt/Grain Whiskey.
